Global custodian and US bank Citi has named Shamsa Al-Falasi as chief executive of its onshore branch in the UAE.
In addition, she will also assume the role of chief administrative officer across all Citi entities in the country operating both onshore and offshore.
The UAE serves as Citi’s operational hub for the region covering 59 markets. The UAE is also one of Citi’s four global wealth management centres.
Al-Falasi, who is the first Emirati woman to head up Citi’s UAE onshore businesses, has spent almost two decades at Citi, joining the bank as a graduate in 2004 and then going on to work in Dublin, London and Sai Paolo.
She was then appointed as senior business and relationship manager for the Mena and Turkey region.
