Waha Capital raids JP Morgan for new CFO

Former JP Morgan Asset Management (JPAM) executive Simon Reeves has been named as the new chief financial officer (CFO) for Abu Dhabi-based fund manager Waha Capital.

Reeve will relocate to the UAE from London where he has served as JPAM’s CFO since August 2018. In the role he was responsible for all financials across the multi asset investment team.

After joining JP Morgan back in June 2001, Reeves was also instrumental in growing the asset management division internationally, working in Hong Kong, Japan and Brazil.

Reeve’s appointment was welcomed by Waha Capital chief executive Amr Al Menahli. “Close on the heels of our turnaround strategy, [Reeves’s] appointment comes at an idea time for the company,” he said.

“He will play a crucial role as we embark on a new phase of long-term growth and shareholder value maximisation moving forward.”

The appointment follows a number of executive changes made the previous year, including the hire of veteran banker Al Menhali as chief executive in July 2019.
