Nuveen hires ex-Carlyle director for Mena expansion plans

US asset manager Nuveen has engaged the services of consultant Wael Bayazid to help it expand its institutional business in the Middle East.

He will work with Nuveen’s global client services team to develop strategies for new and existing clients, according to the firm.

Bayazid was previously a managing director and partner at private equity firm Carlyle Group.

Based in Washington and London, he was instrumental in establishing Carlyle’s business in Europe and the Middle East.

“[Bayazid’s] engagement will enable us to expand our growing platform and help us strengthen existing and new relationships in the Middle East,” said Simon England-Brammer, senior managing director and head of Emea and Apac, global client group at Nuveen.
