Saudi private investment rises by 8.7% in Q3

InvestingThere was an 8.66% increase in the total value of private investment funds in Saudi Arabia in the third quarter of 2018, according to data from the Saudi Capital Market Authority (SCMA). Assets held in private funds rose from $40.64 billion in the previous quarter to $44.16 billion and by 11.6% on the $39.57 billion gathered at the same time in 2017. The value of assets in equity funds grew by 14.3% to $26.59 billion in the last quarter while the assets held by money market and real estate funds increased to $590 million and $15.28 billion respectively. One asset class, debt securities, fell slightly in the quarter, from $1.29 billion to $1.28 billion. The total number of subscribers in private investment funds rose to 3,939 of which almost two thirds (2,279) were invested in real estate funds followed by 1,447 invested in equity funds, 92 in money markets, 61 in debt securities, eight in hedge funds and derivatives and four in commodities funds. ©2018 funds global mena
