Octopus Investments appoints Mena distribution head

UK fund manager Octopus Investments has bolstered its Middle East presence with the appointment of Robert Cashmore as head of institutional funds distribution for the Middle East.

Based in London, he will work alongside Mark Williams, head of institutional funds distribution.

Cashmore was previously the UK government director of investment for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, during which time he helped to create a £10 billion sovereign investment agreement between the UK and the UAE, the largest such arrangement delivered by the UK government to date.

He also served as the UK’s head of investment for Saudi Arabia, managing the relationship between the government and the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund.

“Our institutional offer is an important and growing component of the group, and we recognise the opportunity to help more Middle Eastern institutions achieve their return and impact objectives, as interest in this area increases,” said Octopus Group co-founder Chris Hulatt.
