Investcorp appoints ESG head

ESG investingHabib Abdur-Rahman has been appointed as the internal ESG lead for Bahrain-based alternative asset manager, Investcorp. Abdur-Rahman, currently principal for corporate development at the firm, will see his role expand as a result of the new appointment and will be responsible for overseeing Investcorp’s “accelerated adoption” of a standardised ESG framework across all of its business lines and geographies. Investcorp launched its group policy on socially responsible investing in early 2019 and the new appointee will be expected to ensure it is embedded throughout the firm. “One of our key priorities at Investcorp is to deliver sustainable value for our stakeholders,” said Rishi Kapoor, co-chief executive of Investcorp. “Integrating strong alignment with key ESG factors that are consistent with our own core values is an integral part of this process.” Abdur-Rahman added that his appointment “reflects the firm’s recognition that ESG principles must continue to guide our activities”. © 2020 funds global mena
