IFC appoints senior manager for GCC

Abdullah Jefri has been named as the senior manager for the GCC – ex-Saudi Arabia at the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Based in Dubai, he will be responsible for promoting investment in the region and diversifying the respective economies of GCC member states.

Jefri will also be expected to encourage more “high impact investment” from the GCC to emerging markets and in developing green technology to hasten the move away from hydrocarbons.

Jefri’s previous experience as the IFC’s regional manager for the Levant region saw him oversee an investment portfolio in excess of US$1 billion in a politically volatile region containing Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.

He was also responsible for launching Jordan’s first green bond.
