GCC investors bullish on economic outlook – survey

A survey of GCC investors’ annual return requirements has revealed a generally positive outlook towards the region’s economic prospects.

The research was carried out by Bahrain asset manager Sico during the third quarter of 2021.

It asked two questions regarding the overall economic outlook and the minimum unleveraged return requirements for different asset classes.

The majority of investors (77%) were optimistic about Saudi Arabia, the region’s biggest asset management market, and Bahrain (53%), Sico’s home market.

In terms of return requirements, the figure was highest for private equity at 14% whereas real estate required returns came within a range of 6-8%.
