Dubai financial regulator changes CEO

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has welcomed back its former chairman Ian Johnston following the departure of his predecessor.

Christopher Calabia resigned his post and will leave the regulator at the end of August in order to return to the US for family-related reasons, according to a statement.

He will be replaced by Johnston, who led the DFSA between 2012 and 2018.

Since leaving the regulator, Johnston has worked in a consulting role with a number of regulators and policymakers across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

He has also served as a member of the DFSA’s legislative committee since January 2022.
