Dubai-based crypto investment firm Cypher Capital has named Bill Qian as chairman of the board of directors.
Qian joins from another crypto-firm, Binance Labs, where he is global head of fundraising.
Qian has also worked with a number of tech-focused investment firms, including Chinese e-commerce company JD.com where he was head of investment for fintech/tech.
He has also worked with tech-focused private equity fund Trustbridge Partners and describes himself as a “web-native investor”.
According to Qian, Cypher Capital has a number of new projects planned including a venture studio, joint ventures in different crypto verticals and a co-working space in Jumeirah BeachResidence in Dubai.
In addition, Qian said that the firm is looking to launch a new crypto fund with a wider range of investors from Asia and the Middle East.
