Crypto exchange Bybit opens in Dubai

Crypto exchange Bybit has announced that it is setting up its global headquarters in Dubai.

The company, which claims to be the third most visited crypto exchange globally, said the new premises would be opened in mid-April.

According to co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou, the global HQ will host meet-ups and streaming sessions for its various affiliates and partners.

“We want to revolutionise the idea of corporate offices and create a community hub for open exchange and creativity where friends of Bybit feel at home in Dubai,” said Zhou.

Bybit joins a number of crypto firms that are set up in the UAE. In February, digital asset manager 3iQ announced an expansion of its Mena presence.

However, US-based crypto exchange Kraken closed its Abu Dhabi office in the same month.

Bybit has had its own troubles in terms of its international presence. As of 2021, it has been banned from operating in the US. It also received warnings from Canadian and Japanese regulators the same year.
