Al Waha fund launches fintech VC vehicle

The Al Waha fund, managed jointly by investment firm Hambro Perks and Bahrain Development Bank, has launched a fintech venture studio based in Bahrain.

The HP Spring Studios will co-found and invest directly in a number of fintech startups.

The chosen startups will also work closely with the Al Waha fund and Hambro Perks’various portfolio companies.

In addition, a number of private and public institutions in Bahrain will be available to offer financial and organisational support.

Dominic Perks, chief executive at Hambro Perks, commented: “The opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop fintech solutions to help address the Mena region’s challenges has never been more compelling,” said Dominic Perks, chief executive of Hambro Perks.

“To date, high barriers to entry have been limiting the potential for innovation.”
