Global Mission, a non-profit based in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, has established a US$17 billion fund based on the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development goals (SDGs).
The Global Fund for Sustainable Development, described as the most ambitious SDG-fund worldwide, intends to raise $1 billion for each of the UN’s 17 SDGs.
The fund’s investment committee will be chaired by Mohamad Elsamad, executive director of operation and administration at Global Mission.
According to Elsamad, the committee has identified more than 100 projects worldwide in which it will invest.
The projects will be implemented in cooperation with governments and the private sector, added Elsamad.
