Swiss private bank Julius Baer has appointed Regis Burger as chief executive of its Dubai-based Middle East operation.
Currently based in Switzerland as a business manager for Julius Baer, Burger worked for the Dubai branch for five years between 2004 and 2009, spending three years there as chief operating officer.
Burger replaces Juerg Berger, who has led the Middle East branch for two years after taking over from Peter Schaer in 2014. The outgoing chief executive will stay in the region, taking on the role of head GCC Abu Dhabi.
Rémy Bersier, head of emerging markets at the bank, said Burger’s appointment, “shows continuity and demonstrates the importance of our hub in Dubai as a growth platform for the emerging markets”.
“I am extremely happy to come back to Dubai,” said the incoming chief executive.
