Mena Fintech Association forms digital assets group

The Mena Fintech Association has launched a working group dedicated to promoting the use and regulation of digital assets.

The Digital Assets Working Group will be co-chaired by Miriam Kiwan and Mo Ali Yusuf. According to a statement, it will “aim to champion a transparent regulatory framework while also propelling the adoption and extensive use of digital assets across Mena”.
The association’s chairman, Nameer Khan, said: “In our journey toward shaping the future of finance, we believe that clear and innovative digital asset regulation is the cornerstone.”

The launch of the working group comes at the same time as Saudi Arabia’s central bank called for more coordinated rules around the cryptocurrencies market.
The Ayman Alsayari, governor, Saudi Central Bank, said: “We need good supervision, regulation and coordination of cryptocurrency activities. We support the work and relevant roadmap of the IMF and the Financial Stability Board to address risks related to cryptocurrencies.”
