Julius Baer sets up desk in Dubai

Swiss wealth manager Julius Baer has bolstered its external asset management business by opening a desk in Dubai.

The desk will be housed in the DIFC, one of Dubai’s free economic zones. The aim is to strengthen the firms’ ties with external asset managers and financial advisors in the region.

According to Julius Baer, the Middle East is seen as a fertile ground for wealth and asset management and will be key to the firm’s ambition to amass more than 1 trillion Swiss francs (US$1.12 trillion) in assets under management.

It will be led by Marc Haefeli, a 12-year veteran at Julius Baer who has spent the last six years in the Mena market. He will be aided by two newly recruited relationship managers – Aakanksha Raizada and Pebin Muriyamadom.
