Commercial Bank of Dubai has hired Bernd van Linder, the managing director of Saudi Hollandi Bank, as its chief executive.
Van Linder will replace Peter Baltussen, who is retiring after serving at the company since 2006.
Saeed Ghobash, chairman of the Commercial Bank of Dubai, said he hoped Van Linder would bring “a new level of drive and energy” to the position.
“His excellent leadership skills and professionalism will play a vital role in driving [the bank’s] growth and modernisation,” said Ghobash.
Van Linder has been managing director of Saudi Hollandi Bank since 2009, having served as the bank’s treasurer for three years before that. Prior to moving to Riyadh, he worked at ABN Amro in the global markets division.
