Chimera Capital raises $50m+ for first VC fund

Abu Dhabi-based fund manager Chimera Capital has announced the second close of its Chimera Global Fund I LP.

The firm’s first venture capital fund exceeded its fundraising target of US$50 million.

The fund’s portfolio includes a number of tech-based firms including online learning platform Coursera, managed cloud kitchen Kitopi and expense management platform Divvy.

“The fund aims to deploy tickets of up to $5 million in 12-15 companies that span from Series A to pre-IPO stages,” said Chimera Capital’s chief investment officer Karim Radwan.

“We will focus on growth stage opportunities and plan to hold investments for a period varying from two to five years,” he added.
