Neuberger Berman names new Mena head

handshake 1US-based asset manager Neuberger Berman has formally appointed the former head of SEI Investments in the Middle East as its new head of the Mena region, based in Dubai.

Jahangir Aka worked with SEI Investments since 2006, most recently as the head of the Dubai-based Middle East operation. Samer Abdel Kader has replaced him as head of SEI Investments in the region.

Aka replaces Khalid Murgian, who joined Neuberger Berman in 2012 to lead the Dubai office having previously worked for Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

A statement from Neuberger Berman confirms reports at the end of 2014 that said Aka would join the firm.

Aka will report to Dik van Lomwel, who says Aka has “a deep understanding of the needs and priorities of our local clients”.

At SEI Investments, Aka led efforts to attract family office clients and also promoted the idea of occupational savings schemes in the Gulf countries based around end-of-service gratuities.
